Guided Childhood helps parents guide their children through the digital world. We take your family’s privacy seriously, and we keep to the data we genuinely need to run the service. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have under UK data protection law.

Children do not have accounts and never log in. When you share a quest link with your child it is a private code that opens only their quests, with no way back to your account or anyone else’s. We hold the minimum about a child, a first name and an age band, plus a birthday and interests if you chose to add them, and only ever because you chose to add them. You are always in control of it and can remove it at any time.
If you use the weekly check in, you tell us how your child seems: their mood, their sleep, how they are with friends, how they are after screens, and whether they are talking to you. You can add a note in your own words.
This is the most personal thing we hold, and the law treats it that way too. It counts as health information, which means we only keep it if you have said yes to it specifically, separately from signing up. You will be asked plainly, before anything is saved, and nothing is written down until you have.
We use it for one thing: so DiGi understands what your week has actually been like, and gives you advice that fits it rather than advice for a family you are not. It is never sold, never shared, and never used to make a judgement about your child. DiGi will tell you what you have logged and what has helped other families. It will not tell you what is wrong with your child, because that is not something an app should do and not something we would trust one to.
Change your mind whenever you like. Turning it off stops us keeping any more, and asking us to delete what is there means it goes, properly. If you are worried about your child, please talk to your GP, and if it is urgent, NHS 111 or Childline on 0800 1111.
We do not sell your data, ever. We use a small number of trusted providers who process it only on our instructions to run the service:
We keep your information while your account is open. Weekly check in entries are kept for two years and then removed, because guidance built on a week three years ago is not guidance, it is clutter. You can delete your account yourself at any time from Settings, and when you do it goes for good, your children's records with it, other than payment records we have to keep for six years because HMRC says so.
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see the data we hold, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive a copy to take elsewhere. Email us and we will help. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we hope you will give us the chance to put things right first.
We use only the essential cookies needed to keep you logged in and the site working. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Your data is encrypted in transit and held with reputable providers. No system is ever perfect, but we design for the least data, the fewest hands, and the strongest sensible protection.
